Trawl / low bed trailer
The trawl is a low-bed semi-trailer, which is designed to transport goods that exceed the overall norms in terms of weight or dimensions. There are several types of trawls that are designed to transport a strictly defined type of cargo. Trawls are used in construction, shipbuilding, the oil industry and agricultural activities.
Types of trawls:
Trawls can be divided into several categories:
1. By load capacity
- Light – up to 30 tons;
- Medium – up to 45 tons;
- Heavy – more than 45 tons.
2. By loading height and platform type
Platform types – broken or flat. On a flat platform, you can use its entire surface to place loads. Broken platform is used to deliver high loads
- Trawls can be high-frame, as well as low-frame.
- The height of the platform for low-frame trawls is 60-90 cm.
- The height of the platform for high-frame trawls is 100 cm from the roadway.
- In addition, trawls can have an underestimated loading platform. In this case, the load will be only 30 cm from the road.
3. By type of suspension
Some trawls are equipped with air suspension, while others are hydraulic.
Typically air suspension is typical for trawls that belong to the middle or light class, and hydraulic suspension is required for exceptionally heavy trawls.
4. By the number of axles
- The number of axles for trawls is from 2 to 8.
- The total number of axles of modular trawls directly depends on what kind of cargo needs to be transported. These trawls are needed to transport a strictly defined type of cargo.
- Other types of trawls for transportation of oversized cargo: separable trawls and mini trawls.
- Separable trawls can be detached from the truck. This is very convenient, because in this case, the equipment will be able to drive onto the platform even from the front. The trawl platform then needs to be secured to the truck again.
- Mini trawls differ from ordinary trawls in their size. They are so compact that some even use them on the farm. The cost of such trawls is significantly lower than standard ones.
